A full bodied wine with more onion skin colour rather than red/pink. Typical Pinotage floral aromas with prominent red fruit flavours. Staying with the kanonkop philosophy this wine is a full bodied food wine. Add a bit of ice for spice.
Inspired by the teamwork and energy of African painted Wolves, our community of talented individuals combine resources to form the Painted Wolf Wines Pack. This wine had been produced from grapes harvested off bush vines planted in 1986. This wine was barrel fermented utilising the grapes natural yeasts in 500 litre 2nd and 3rd fill French and Hungarian oak barrels. The result is a harmonious hand-made wine, with a soft white peach, mascarpone and wet stone aromas with a creamy mid-palate and a long balanced finish. Our friend, Jenny Metelerkamp, produced a fine Painted Wolf ink drawing for the label.
This wine has a striking, pale lime colour. The nose has pronounced tropical aromas of guava, passion fruit and melon with an interisting floral potpourri twist. On the palate you can enjoy white peach, kiwi fruit and pink lady apple, underpinned by a delightful flinty freshness and delicate citrus finish. Full and fresh, this wine will pair well with prawn risotto, lobster, soft cheeses and sunshine.
The Painted Wolf, also known as the African Wild Dog or Painted Dog - a highly social animal, each with its own ornate markings. The den is at the heart of the pack, a place where Painted Wolves relax and bond.
The Den Chenin Blanc is vibrant, zesty and packed with flavour - a social wine to enjoy with family, friends and good food.
As you "paint your palate" with this wine, you are making a contribution to the conservation of rare carnivores.
