Hand-picked Grenache from Stelenbosch's finest vineyards and aged in French oak for 16 months.

Cellaring:  5 - 8 years from vintage under ideal conditions.

Medium bodied with red fruits and fine tannins, great with cured meats, lamb, pork & mushroom based dishes.

Backsberg Pinotage's ripe cherry, coffee bean and sweet strawberry flavours are complemented by subtle undertones of dried herbs.  This Pinotage has a juicy mouth-feel with supple, sweet tannins.

The fruity style of this wine makes it lovely on its own as well as an idela accompniment to lamb, spicy food and hearty Italian dishes.

Intense, vivid translucent youthful purple-ruby appearance. On the palate there are very pure Pinot fruit flavours on entry with red cherry and musk flavours coupled with fresh acidity. The wine has layered complexity with great elegance and finesse. Very fine lacy, almost powdery tannin on the finish.

Ideally served at 16°-18°C. White and red meats, Parma ham, grilled line fish, Tuna, wild mushrooms and traditional cheeses.

This wine, classic in style, was grown and produced on the historic Meerlust Estate which has been owned by the Myburgh family for eight generations.  It will complement fine food and benefit from further ageing.
