Juicy cherry, blackberry, mocha and spice
Hand selected grapes from a low producting old vineyard on a cool slope with no irrigation for natural concentration fermented in open tanks with plunging and pumping over. It matured 12 months in 100% American Oak barrels This wine is full bodied with a typical warm mouth feel, soft tannins, a long finish and spicy flavours. It is made and selected to mature for many years in the bottle. This style is to compliment venison, beef or all heavy cuisine and cheese.
Variety: Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Style: Made in a classical yet approachable style with ripe black fruit aromas and a touch of oak spice. The palate is generous, with soft tannins and a long flavourful finish. Serving: Will complement grilled meats, casseroles, oven roasted vegetables and hearty pasta dishes. Keeping: Delicious now. Will benefit from further bottle maturation.
Backsberg Pinotage's ripe cherry, coffee bean and sweet strawberry flavours are complemented by subtle undertones of dried herbs. This Pinotage has a juicy mouth-feel with supple, sweet tannins.
The fruity style of this wine makes it lovely on its own as well as an idela accompniment to lamb, spicy food and hearty Italian dishes.
