The farm was named in 1704 when the settlers returned from an arduous journey to find their livestock gone and their home burnt down - hence the name Allesverloren meaning "all is lost". Present Owner, Danie Malan is the fifth generation on the farm, continuing the winemaking tradition of his forefathers who acquired the farm in 1872.
