Heavy savoury oak aromas combined with pencil shavings and hints of dark fruits, plum and cassis. This wine shows great structure and balance. Initial Cabernet Sauvignon characteristics are followed up with a spicy finish from the Shiraz. With great tannin structure and a strong backbone this wine has excellent ageing potential.

Beyerskloof Synergy

As part of the Reserve Range, the Beyerskloof Synergy represents not only the synergy of their four red grape varieties, but all the different slopes, soils and micro-climates where they are grown.  This wine combines the classic European with the New World wine styles.  A wonderful partner to red meat, game, cheese and spicy foods.

33% Pinotage, 29% Cabernet Sauvignon and 34% Merlot

Intense dark red colour with a pleasant ruby red rim.

Initial impressions of lovely red fruit and cherries give way to sweet cedar oak aromas.  An abundance of black fruit upon entry leads to a big, juicy middle with soft, well rounded tannins.  A classic Cape Blend with a pleasant lingering aftertaste.  Serve with stews, game dishes or lamb shank.

Backsberg Pumphouse Shiraz

Produced from intensely concentrated shiraz grapes, Pumphouse Shiraz exhibites a wonderful velvety depth.  Black cherry and mulberry otes give way to hints of aniseed and vanilla, which are derived from maturation in small French - and just a few American - barriques.

The Pumphouse, located high up on the Backwsberg property, is a humble concrete structure which plays an imperative role in day-to-day activities.  The building epitomises Backsberg's approach to winemaking, unassuming but extraordinary.
