The farm was named in 1704 when the settlers returned from an arduous journey to find their livestock gone and their home burnt down - hence the name Allesverloren meaning "all is lost". Present Owner, Danie Malan is the fifth generation on the farm, continuing the pioneering winemaking tradition of his forefathers who acquired the farm in 1872. The Malan family has been making this now legendary fortified wine, made of traditional Portuguese varieties, for the past four decades. Appreciate the wood aroma with nut and raisin berry undertones, accentuated with the creamy soft taste of ripe fruit.

Sedgwick's Old Brown Sherry was launched in 1916 making it South Africa's first and original old brown sherry and has gained cult status amongst many South Africans across race, age and income.
